Intro

This is an invitation to the Mutualists in the Mutualist Reasoning Collective to join a collaborative research project that aims to develop a progressive and diverse array of ideas for a 21st century Mutualism. Participants may submit research projects, nonfiction, fiction, poetry, art, and anything else that aligns with this collective’s mission that can be formatted into a printed book. We aim to merge our individual initiatives into an anthology by the end of July-August 2024.

Participation

To qualify to join this project, one must:

  1. Be a “Community Resident” or higher, i.e., verified and vetted.
  2. Be either a Mutualist or Mutualist adjacent.
  3. Work on something directly related to Mutualism, or something very adjacent to Mutualism.
  4. Be able to write in English. Assistance from other members of the Collective will be given if English is not your native language.
  5. Be willing to assist and co-operate with other members of the Collective.

Determination of qualification for this project will be performed by moderators of the MCRC Discord server, Captain Croaker, and mycoRicardian. Disputes will be resolved by a simple majority of all participants in the Progressive Mutualist Project.

To officially join, leave a message in the designated channel in #para-academic-planning. Give the collective your ideas on what you want to work on and the folks aforementioned will get you started and record your participation in the project. The latest someone may join is May 5th 2024.

If members want to remain anonymous or use a nom-de-plume they need to mention it to the group.

Diversity

We strongly encourage each member of this project to pick out an idea to work on that is distinct from other group members if possible to avoid repetition. Participants may not copy verbatim the research topic of anyone else. If this does happen, MCRC moderators will need to resolve this issue with one member choosing another activity.

Topics

We will keep a list of ideas and possible contributions on this document. So far, members have bounced around:

  1. Sociology & Mutualism (Gray)
  2. The Racist Anti-Racist (Croaker, St. Amoris)
  3. Neo-Proudhonian Analysis of Imperialism (Croaker)
  4. Evolution and Progress: Proudhon vs. Spencer (myco)
  5. After Mutualist Political Economy (myco)
  6. Mutualist Sociological Literature Review (quaramorph)
  7. Alter-globalization (fnord)
  8. Mutualism, Agorism, & Class Struggle (Eric)
  9. Criticism of Marxist Anarchism (Iroh)
  10. Relations for Proudhon (St. Amoris)

Editing

Throughout this process, participants can and will provide feedback to other people’s projects in our journey together. Criticism should be constructive and helpful.

After the final version of contributions are given, which must be delivered before the first day of August, there will be a meeting to determine whether the quality of the contribution is sufficient to be part of the final project. Quality will be determined by votes from all our members, and require 2/3 majority to be accepted. If you are unsure of your abilities, we advise making drafts early and getting other people’s feedback.

Citations

Citation will be done in the Chicago style format.
